Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job - it's a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change. As an Activities Volunteer, you will help design and facilitate weekly activity groups/sessions at The Crisis Recovery House. These sessions are central to our recovery-focused approach and offer residents opportunities to connect, learn and grow. Tasks may include: Offering peer-led emotional support, using your lived experience appropriately and safely. Supporting residents to develop coping strategies, set small goals, and build confidence. Assisting staff with group activities, such as wellbeing sessions, reflection groups, or informal check-ins. Helping create a welcoming, calm, and supportive environment within the house. Encouraging residents to engage with available activities, routines, and support plans. Contributing to a sense of community by participating in shared spaces and social activities. Supporting residents with practical tasks, where appropriate (e.g., reminders about routines, signposting to resources). Gathering informal feedback from residents to help improve the service. For this role, we are looking for someone who brings: A willingness to share lived experience in a way that supports and empowers others. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport in a calm, respectful way. The ability to engage sensitively with people experiencing mental health challenges. Reliability, punctuality, and a professional approach. Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team. Ability to maintain confidentiality, appropriate boundaries, and follow safeguarding and organisational policies. Willingness to take part in supervision and complete relevant training.
