This role is office-based in Mexico. The role requires professional fluency in English (spoken and written). We are seeking an experienced IBM AIX Systems Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and optimize AIX-based infrastructure in a mission-critical enterprise environment. This role requires deep expertise in IBM Power Systems, AIX OS administration, and associated technologies such as PowerVM, HACMP/PowerHA, and storage integration. The ideal candidate will ensure system reliability, performance, and security while supporting business-critical applications. Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Technical (40%) Perform system installations, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning. Manage logical partitions (LPARs) using PowerVM/VIOS. Implement and support high availability solutions (PowerHA / HACMP). Manage storage integration (SAN, NPIV, MPIO) and backup solutions. Administrative (40%) Proficiency in AIX system internals, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with backup/recovery tools (e.g., BRMS, TSM/Spectrum Protect). Administer, configure, and maintain IBM AIX operating systems on IBM Power Systems. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions. Ensure system security compliance, including patch management and auditing. Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting (ksh/bash). Collaborate with application, database, and network teams to support enterprise platforms. Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and incident resolution. Manage ServiceNow ticket queue. Participate in on-call rotation for production support as needed. Project Management (20%) Be the point person for team projects when required including: Scheduling, Documentation, Ticket Approvals, etc. Required Qualifications: Strong experience with IBM Power Systems hardware and virtualization (PowerVM, VIOS).
