Responsibilities

  • Carry out hydrographic survey activities, including online surveying, data acquisition, data processing, quality checks and preparation of final survey deliverables;
  • Support port operations and development projects by undertaking engineering surveys, including laser scanning, GNSS topographic surveys and drone mapping;

  • Operate survey vessels as Coxswain when required to support survey operations.
  • About you
  • Your skills and experience will include:
  • You have extensive knowledge using a variety of hydrographic surveying software packages, ideally including QPS software suite, Applanix POSPac, Trimble Business Centre and ArcGIS Pro;
  • You have extensive knowledge and experience operating a range of hydrographic equipment, specifically Kongsberg, Norbit and R2Sonic multibeam systems, and Applanix POS MV systems;
  • You are proficient in mobilising, installing, testing and calibrating hydrographic and metocean equipment;
  • You have extensive experience processing, interpreting and quality-checking bathymetric datasets;
  • You have experience undertaking hydrographic survey fieldwork, including online surveying, data acquisition, data processing, quality checks and preparation of final survey deliverables;
  • You have experience undertaking topographic and/or engineering surveys, including GNSS survey work, with laser scanning and drone mapping experience highly regarded;
  • You have experience preparing accurate survey reports, plans, drawings and technical documentation;
  • You have sound knowledge of tidal data, tide gauge systems, wind sensor and the management of tidal information;
  • You have experience supporting the management, organisation and maintenance of spatial, aspatial and digital survey data;
  • You have trailer boat launching experience and a current driver's licence;
  • You have sound knowledge of procedures, standards and best practice for survey work, particularly hydrographic, topographic and engineering surveys; and
  • You have strong attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate survey outputs, reports and deliverables.
  • Desirable
  • A degree in surveying, hydrographic surveying, geomatics or a closely related survey discipline, with experience in dredging and port surveying highly regarded;
  • Certified Professional Hydrographic Surveyor, CPHS Level 1 or 2;
  • Coxswain Certificate, Master 5 or demonstrated experience operating vessels in a marine survey environment;;
  • Drone Pilot Licence and experience undertaking drone mapping activities;
  • Experience using CAD and GIS software to prepare, manage and present survey data;
