Research Technician - Zallen Lab

Responsibilities

• Use molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology techniques to study protein localization, dynamics, and function
• Learn innovative microscopy methods to analyze cell dynamics in fly and mouse embryos using confocal microscopy and time-lapse imaging
• Assist with the design and engineering of fly and mouse lines using CRISPR/Cas9 methods
• Assist with the maintenance of collections of fly and mouse lines
• Collaborate with senior scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students in an intellectually stimulating and interactive environment
• What you bring:
• Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, physics, chemistry, engineering, or a related field
• Self-motivated, interactive, and meticulous approach to tasks and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, documentation, and communication skills
• Enthusiasm for learning new approaches and a passion for teaching and helping others
• A minimum of one year of undergraduate research experience is required.

We are actively seeking a Research Technician to join the lab of Dr. Jennifer Zallen at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, NY. This individual will work as part of an interactive, multidisciplinary team of scientists working to understand how cells navigate through the body during development and how defects in these processes can lead to birth defects and cancer. We use cell biological, genetic, biophysical, computational, and live-imaging approaches to visualize cell and protein dynamics in living embryos. The long-term goal of this research is to leverage this information to build, repair, and regenerate tissues to treat human disease.
