Legal Counsel Team Manager - Contract

About the role

Fasthosts is looking for an experienced, commercially minded legal professional to join us as Manager, Legal Counsel on a contract basis providing maternity cover until August 2027. You'll lead a small UK legal team, act as our UK Data Protection Officer, and provide practical, business‑focused legal support across Fasthosts and IONOS Cloud. This role offers a great mix of hands‑on legal work, team leadership and collaboration with colleagues across the UK and Europe. What will you be doing? This is a varied role and responsibilities include: Manage, mentor and support the UK Legal team Act as the UK Data Protection Officer, overseeing GDPR/UK DPA compliance and advising on privacy risks Work closely with Group Legal to align on contracts, regulatory matters and wider Group initiatives Advise on commercial agreements (cloud/hosting, software licensing, strategic suppliers) Support on UK regulatory areas including consumer law, IP, competition and sanctions Lead UK compliance activities (anti‑bribery, modern slavery) and contribute to corporate governance Identify legal and regulatory risks and provide clear, practical solutions What experience do you need under your belt? Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent (CILEX considered) Strong in‑house experience Experience managing or mentoring legal professionals (even if informally - we are happy to consider someone looking to step up) Solid commercial contracting experience (Tech/SaaS/Hosting experience useful) Strong knowledge of GDPR/UK DPA and confidence to act as DPO Excellent stakeholder and cross‑team collaboration skills Interested?
