JOB SUMMARY This role supports mental health programs and initiatives developed through the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium, with a focus on improving the quality and accessibility of mental health care for children and adolescents across Texas. The Behavioral Health Therapist (LPC, LCSW, or LMFT) supports children and adolescents enrolled in programs like the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) program, which provides telemedicine or telehealth programs to school districts to help identify and assess the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents and provides access to mental health services. Reporting to the Behavioral Health Manager, the therapist delivers counseling and care management services using a patient-centered, collaborative approach with an interdisciplinary team. This position works with program patients, guardians, and schools to improve a child's overall functioning through evidence-based care. Key responsibilities include conducting behavioral health assessments, formulating and implementing individualized treatment plans, and participating in team-based consultations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Clinical Assessment and Therapy Services ● Evaluates and provides diagnostic impressions. ● Formulates treatment plan according to evidence-based practices and protocol. ● Conducts individual, family and/or group therapy sessions, as needed. ● Monitors patients for suicidal/homicidal intent and ensures patient safety, if necessary. ● Undertakes crisis intervention, as needed. Maintains Documentation and Compliance ● Participates in all supervision, feedback, and quality assurance checks. ● Completes documentation in the clinical record related to interaction with individuals-served, families and other service providers. ● Ensures documentation is accurate, timely, and in accordance with professional ethics. ● Maintains compliance with both federal and state regulations. Coordinates Care and Communication ● Coordinates with referring practitioners, individuals, and family members throughout treatment. ● Collaborates with project coordinators and administrative assistants to schedule and manage patient visits. ● Participates in interdisciplinary team consultations. ● Ensures continuity of care across settings.
