About the role

Unity is investing in advanced 2D capabilities to better serve creators globally, focusing on high-performance world building, asset management, graphics, and animation workflows for demanding 2D scenarios. We're seeking a quality engineer to own the quality of core 2D features through release support, and QA. In this role, you'll work closely with engineering, product, and partner teams to ensure 2D systems are reliable, performant, and ready for release. In the short term, success means building strong coverage, identifying issues early, and supporting smooth releases. Over time, you'll help scale automation, improve QA processes, and raise the quality bar for 2D workflows used by creators worldwide. This is a chance to have direct impact on a strategic area of Unity's product, help shape how quality is built into development, and contribute to tools that power creators globally.

Responsibilities

  • Validate new 2D features early and ensure they meet quality standards before release
  • Triage, reproduce, and verify incoming bug reports and fixes across supported Unity versions and platforms
  • Monitor and evaluate feature stability and performance across releases, devices, and environments
  • Define and maintain test plans and test cases for core 2D systems and creator workflows
  • Expand and improve test automation to increase coverage, efficiency, and release confidence

Requirements

  • Professional proficiency in Japanese, with the ability to collaborate with partners and creators, gather feedback, and communicate findings clearly
  • Hands-on experience testing and validating software releases, including bug reproduction, verification, and regression testing
  • Familiarity with cross-platform testing and evaluating software stability and performance across multiple environments
  • Experience writing scripts for test automation or workflow automation
  • You might also have
  • Experience developing game tools, pipelines, or editor workflows
  • Experience developing or shipping games
  • Experience using creative software tools
  • Experience engaging with user or developer communities to gather feedback and share best practices
  • Experience with CI systems and build pipeline development
  • Familiarity with 2D workflows in Unity
