Project Accountant

Responsibilities

• At Leonardo, we are looking for a Project Accountant to join our team in Edinburgh. Leonardo is an international leader in electronic and information technologies for defence systems and aerospace.
• This exciting role blends home-based flexibility and on-site working in Edinburgh, with at least 2 days per week on site. You'll be an important part of both an integrated project team and the Edinburgh Finance Team.
• As a Project Accountant you will,
• This role gives you the chance to make a real impact, supporting both statutory requirements and the delivery of high-value customer solutions in a dynamic business sector.
• Support the Financial Controller with preparation of sector monthly forecasts including assumptions, risks and opportunities and explanation of forecast movements.
• Supporting the business in producing robust monthly Contract Status Reports (CSRs).
• Monitoring financial performance through the Monthly Forecast and Business Planning processes.
• Working with the Project Team / budget holders to understand the forecast, Investments, Business Plans and CSR movements.
• Supporting the Sector Programme Manager and Sector VP in Monthly Reviews.
• Support the financial input required as part of the bid process.
• Reconciling financial data and resolving problems/issues where appropriate to ensure integrity of information provided.
• Ensuring all financial procedures and controls are applied as required; and supporting non finance functions on their application.
• Proactively seeking to improve local processes and working practices to drive efficiencies across the team and wider business to help drive the Finance function forward

Requirements

• o AAT qualified / CIMA /ACCA part-qualified desirable
• o IFRS 15 Revenue Recognition knowledge advantageous
• o Excellent communication skills, able to engage with both Finance and non-Finance colleagues, understanding their needs and providing support
• o Analytical and challenging mindset, able to question decisions within the integrated project team when appropriate
• o Proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to re-prioritise to meet key deadlines
• o Commitment to delivering high-quality outputs and support
• o Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office
• o Experience with SAP (advantageous)
• o Enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to contribute to the projects and contracts you will be working on.

Job Description: Salary Range: £53,269 - £60,000 Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.
