About the role

Location: John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford OX3 9DS Applicants are invited to apply for this Biomarker Specialist post who have a strong background in molecular biology and flow cytometry. The Therapy Acceleration Laboratory (TAL) supports national and international: Phase I, proof-of-concept experimental medicine clinical trials, through to registrational Phase III and precision medicine clinical trials. The TAL provides complex genetic and phenotypic analyses of human patient samples. You will perform manual, semi-automated, and fully automated laboratory investigations, interpret and record test results according to SOPs. You will work closely with senior colleagues running molecular genetic and flow cytometric assays and biobanking, as well as supporting the laboratory by maintaining stocks of reagents and consumables, performing and recording internal and external quality control and assurance testing. You will hold a BSc/MSc in Genomics, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Haematology or a Biomedical Scientist qualification. You will have experience of working in either a research /or clinical laboratory with a good understanding of health and safety protocols in a laboratory setting. Experience of the following techniques are essential: handling and processing of biological samples and cryopreservation; nucleic acid extraction techniques, PCR techniques, NGS library preparations; cell preparation, staining and gating analysis using multiparameter flow cytometry. Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours, including some weekends, is required. This position is available full-time until 31 July 2028 in the first instance.
