Who we're looking for Toyota's Fuel Cell Development (FCD) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Supervisor. Reporting to the Manager, the person in this role will support the [FCD] department's objective to [enable Heavy Duty Fuel Cell (FC) vehicle and new FC business applications development for the US market].
Responsibilities
- Plan resources (manpower scheduling, vehicle / test schedules & test cell scheduling)
- Plan, manage and oversee direct & capital budget for Heavy Duty Fuel Cell vehicle projects.
- Develop team technical skill plan to grow skills, knowledge & mindset.
- Support & establish Team Member performance expectations and provide timely feedback throughout the year.
- Plan & support long-term fundamental TOYOTA Way development through effective application for daily work.
- Identify & resolve problems associated with TM relations by working with TM's, Mgmt. & HR in a timely manner.
- Assess and adjust progress to maintain project targets and expectations.
- Able to handle multiple JRN Project assignments, related travel and out-of-office working conditions.
- Build consensus & trust with direct reports, contract staff and related Department General Managers (GMs)/Manages for positive outcome.
- Oversee & support instrumentation of Heavy-Duty FC vehicles with proprietary and off-the-shelf test equipment.
- Support vehicle evaluation, data collection, data analysis, etc. when required.
- Diagnosing & repair problems related to instrumentation, hybrid / Fuel Cell & electrical systems.
- Monitor & maintain TM adherence to established policies, procedures & standards.
- Oversee development & use of Job Instruction Sheets (JIS'), Job Safety Analysis (JSA's), Risk Assessments (RA's), etc.
- Conduct field safety audits to ensure vehicle, driver and program compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Domestic & International travel up to 30%.

- What you bring
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology, Electronics or other related discipline.
- Must have a minimum of 8+ years of experience on Fuel Cell Systems (i.e. Toyota Fuel Cell preferred).
- Minimum of 2+ years of understanding of federal and state DOT requirements for Heavy Duty vehicles and drivers (Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations (i.e. MCSR).
- Strong experience and knowledge in electrical systems.
- Experience in hydrogen infrastructure testing, codes and standards (light and heavy duty).
- Understanding of test cell operations & processes for chassis and or unit testing.
- This position requires up to 30% domestic and international travel to support cross-functional collaboration, project implementation, testing activities, supplier engagements, and global business initiatives.
- What you may bring
- Supervisory experience in a Toyota R&D environment.
- Working level experience with Toyota data acquisition systems (i.e. such as Panel 3 / 4, CAN data logger, etc.).
- Working level understanding & application of Toyota test procedures, policies and procedures related to test cell operations, on-road vehicle evaluations.
- Federal Transit Administration (FTA) 49 CFR 655.14(b)(2) course completion.
- Working level understanding of Toyota problem solving methodology either through Quality Circles or completion of a Toyota Business Practice (TBP).
