About This Role We are seeking a meticulous Nuclear Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to join our team. The QA Manager will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of operations, equipment, and processes within a nuclear fuel cycle facility. This role involves being part of the team developing, implementing, and monitoring quality assurance programs to meet regulatory and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Assurance (QA) programs in compliance with NRC, DOE, and ASME standards, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, and other relevant requirements.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure adherence to quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the qualification of suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with QA requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Review and approve technical documentation, including procedures, plans, and reports, to ensure alignment with QA standards.
  • Support the development of training programs on quality assurance policies, procedures, and best practices for facility personnel.
  • Prepare and present QA performance metrics and reports to management and regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in regulatory reviews and inspections to ensure ongoing compliance with nuclear quality standards.
  • Stay informed about evolving regulations, standards, and industry best practices related to nuclear quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of quality standards, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, and ISO 9001.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements from the NRC, DOE, and other applicable authorities.
  • Proficiency in QA tools and methodologies, including root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and auditing techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
  • Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.
  • Quality assurance experience in the nuclear industry or a related regulated environment.
  • Certification in Quality Assurance or Nuclear QA (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, NQA-1 Lead Auditor).
  • Advanced degrees.
