About this roleResponsible for maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of various fleet and equipment. Performs troubleshooting, preventative maintenance to ensure operational readiness across all campus locations. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.What a day of a Fleet and Equipment Technician looks like:Inspects and performs preventive and regularly scheduled maintenance of vehicles and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.Repairs, rebuilds, and replaces major systems and components including engines, transmissions, drivetrains, braking systems, HVAC, suspension, and onboard computer/control systems.Utilizes computerized diagnostic equipment and fleet management software to accurately identify faults, document repairs, and track asset performance and maintenance history.Operates the electrical and mechanical systems and components found on engine-powered vehicles and equipment.Refurbishes, fabricates, maintains, and repairs equipment and fleet vehicles.Prioritizes and schedules work orders while implementing quality work standards and procedures. Accurately logs and updates service requests and provides status updates as needed.Conducts safety inspections and ensures all fleet assets and equipment to meet regulatory compliance and institutional safety standards.Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and labor within the fleet management system.Maintains current knowledge of emerging automotive and technologies, including electric vehicle systems and alternative fuel platforms.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:Education and Experience:High school diploma or GED with additional training related to the positionOne year of related experience repairing engine-powered vehicles and equipmentDiagnostic experience in automotive tradesKnowledge of:Microsoft Office Professional or similar applicationSkilled in:Automotive and equipment repairAnalyzing relevant information to solve problemsAttention to detail while maintaining effective time and task managementAbility to:Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machineryWork independently and as part of a team to meet operational goalsCommunicate effectively both verbally and in writingAdapt to evolving automotive technologiesLicenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:Regular physical attendance requiredMotor Vehicle A/C certification obtained within 90 days of employmentValid Florida driver's licenseWork Environment and Physical Demand:Lift, carry, push, pull, install, or remove objects weighing 20 to 49 poundsLift, carry, push, pull, install, or remove objects weighing in excess of 50 poundsReach and grasp objectsStoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawlStand for extended periods of timeUse of manual dexterity and fine motor skillsIdentify and distinguish colors and shades of colorCommunicate information orally and in writingReceive and understand information through oral and written communicationProofread and check documents for accuracyWork with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injuryExperience exposure to uncomfortable work environments due to extreme temperature, noise levels, and other conditionsOperate a motor vehicleWork a fluctuating work scheduleThe minimum base pay for this position starts at $21.44/ hr, however, the offer may vary based on the candidate's education and experience.This position is open until filled with an initial review date ofVision insuranceFlexible schedule
