The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as Technical Training Instructor. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1712, Training Instruction series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: This is a Community College Air Force position (CCAF) FOR COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF THE AIR FORCE GS-1712 POSITIONS: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction. Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs. Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses. Knowledge and skill in the fundamentals of telephone/communications cable systems including Ariel and underground cable systems; fiber optics installation and maintenance; and skill in installation and maintenance of Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LANWAN) and Antenna Systems. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of Master's or equivalent Graduate Degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level Graduate education leading to such a Degree OR LL. B or J.D. with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of the principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of interest. 2. Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs. Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses. 3. Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives. 4. Knowledge of computer applications with skills in comprehensive and reliable network capabilities to support diverse training objectives. Fundamental knowledge of Voice Switching Systems and telephony, installation practices, wiring concepts, and trouble analysis. Knowledge of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) installation, programming and troubleshooting, and installation and maintenance of networks. 5. Skill in written and oral communication. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel. Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
