About the role

The Project Engineer is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving issues on-site and supporting the NEWSTON Automation Inspection product line. The Project Engineer is the front-line face to the customer to commission automated inspection equipment. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Participate in the installation and maintenance of automation (including robotic) measuring cells in production. Accepts responsibility for customer voiced concerns and obtains/implements the appropriate solution and or involves the proper NEWSTON personnel to address the issue. Support new and existing image processing systems, primarily in the automotive industry. Provide technical support in our demonstration image processing robotics lab. Communicate project status to the Project Managers, and support account teams, as necessary. Startup automatic image processing systems, typically mounted on robots, at customer sites in North America. Determine and execute corrective actions for installation errors, customer changes, or unanticipated circumstances in coordination with your supervisor. Review project for compatibility with existing automated systems. Communicate customer changes and needs to supplier engineering (Engineering/Manufacturing changes). Complete administrative requirements as required. Other duties as required. Working Conditions and Special Demands: Seeking motivated individuals with strong engineering aptitude and a desire to be trained on items specific to this job. Willing to travel 85% of time, including some international. Willingness to work weekends/ overtime / work any shift. Ability to write clear and concise technical reports. Ability to perform as a Teacher/Trainer for contractors and customers. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently. System analytical solutions expertise in robotic automation cells. Very good knowledge of robot programming, SPC and image processing preferred. Experience and Education Requirements: Technical training and experience in corresponding environment. Robotics experience preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of technical controls and strong troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and solve problems. Demonstration of a professional attitude and courtesy towards others. Willingness to travel/work overtime/work any shift/work weekends. Valid Driver's License and Passport. Able to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings. Strong aptitude for continued learning and troubleshooting. Software capabilities: AutoCAD and 3D design preferred. Knowledge of Mechanical Assemblies, fixturing, tooling, industrial automation preferred. Familiarity with specifications for building, foundations, electrical preferred. Able to read and understand controls drawings preferred. Able to read and understand electrical diagrams preferred What's in It for You?
