Requirements

• Experience: Basic experience and knowledge of general maintenance work is required. One year of construction and/or maintenance experience is preferred.
• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

The City of Olathe is currently seeking a Parks Construction and Infrastructure Worker to join our Parks Construction team. Our Parks Construction Team has the unique privilege of building parks for the residents of Olathe to enjoy. In this role you will perform a variety of tasks from concrete to framing to roofing and everything in between. A typical day might include pouring concrete, repairing a structure in a park, and gathering materials for the next project. The Parks Construction and Infrastructure Worker utilizes specialized and practical skills to assist with park maintenance, construction projects, and repairs. The role is responsible for maintaining park equipment to ensure operational functionality and safety and also engages in a variety of construction and/or maintenance tasks pertaining to designated areas of responsibility, facilitating the overall upkeep and enhancement of park infrastructure. The role is also responsible for supporting special events and emergency operations, such as snow removal, which may require on-call duties and overtime. The Parks Construction and Infrastructure Worker is the first level in a four level career progression of Parks Construction and Infrastructure Worker, Parks Maintenance and Construction Technician, Parks Craftsperson I, and II.
