About the role
We're seeking a certified Licensed Electrical Worker (minimum Grade 7) to leadthe electrical design, compliance, and grid-connection aspects of our solar PVprojects. You'll be the technical authority ensuring all installations meet SPPowerGrid requirements, EMA regulations, and SS638 standards - from residentialrooftops to commercial & industrial installations.
Responsibilities
- Design & Compliance
- Review and approve electrical single-line diagrams, AC/DC cabling layouts,and protection coordination for solar PV systems
- Ensure designs comply with SS638, SS530, and EMA/SP guidelines forgrid-connected embedded generators
- Calculate earthing requirements, cable sizing, and breaker coordination forLV installations up to 1000V
- Grid Connection & Regulatory
- Prepare and submit grid-connection applications (G99/G98 equivalent such as Micro-SolarApplication & Connection of Distributed Energy Resources (DER)) to SPPowerGrid
- Liaise with SP PowerGrid, EMA, and BCA on electrical licensing, inspections,and turn-on approvals
- Obtain and manage necessary electrical installation licences andproject-specific permits
- Site Oversight & Safety
- Supervise electrical teams on-site, ensuring safe isolation procedures andlock-out/tag-out protocols
- Conduct pre-energization inspections, insulation resistance testing, andpolarity verification
- Issue Certificates of Compliance (COC) and Safety Certificates upon projectcompletion
- Commissioning & Handover
- Witness and validate protection relay settings, anti-islanding tests, andpower quality measurements
- Coordinate with SCADA/monitoring teams for remote monitoring integration
- Handover as-built electrical drawings and O&M manuals to clients
Requirements
- Valid EMA LEW licence (Minimum Grade 7, preferred with relevant solarexperience)
- Minimum 5 years of electrical experience, with at least 2 years in solar PVor embedded generation
- Familiar with SP PowerGrid's Requirements for Embedded Generators andconnection processes
- Proficient in AutoCAD or similar for electrical diagram review
- Strong knowledge of electrical protection, earthing, and lightning protectionfor PV systems
- WSQ Advanced Certificate in Electrical Safety or equivalent
- Preferred
- Experience with energy storage systems (ESS) and hybrid inverters
- BCA Green Mark or GRO Specialist accreditation
- Prior role in an Electrical Engineering consultancy or solar EPC
