About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Associate to join our Employment team in London, with substantial experience of complex transactional employment work, particularly involving US‑headquartered clients and cross‑border US/UK and international matters. Whilst we are specifically seeking candidates with strong transactional experience, our practice is broad and varied and we can offer a great mix of transactional, contentious and advisory work. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advising on employment aspects of high‑value, often fast‑paced corporate transactions, working closely with our corporate, private equity, real estate and regulatory teams, as well as US and other international counsel. They will also have the opportunity to work on complex, high value and sensitive contentious matters, including alongside our litigation and white collar crime teams, as well as a range of advisory matters, often with a cross-border element. This role is integral to the continued growth and profile of our employment offering. This position will suit a senior employment lawyer who combines technical excellence, commercial awareness, and the confidence to advise on multinational transactions, while also contributing to the strategic development of the practice. In return, we offer a collaborative, entrepreneurial and inclusive environment, a high‑quality client base, and exposure to complex and intellectually challenging work at the forefront of the market.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Manage a varied caseload of contentious, advisory and transactional matters (the practice is currently split fairly evenly across all three areas).
  • Lead on the employment law aspects of complex domestic and cross‑border corporate transactions, including M&A, private equity investments, restructurings and group reorganisations, working closely with corporate teams and international counsel.
  • Advise clients (mostly employers, as well as some senior executives) on contentious matters, often involving cross-border elements, including defending employment tribunal claims, litigating in the High Court, and pre-action correspondence and negotiations.
  • Work alongside our Regulatory colleagues on matters where there is a regulatory / employment law crossover;
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing pragmatic and strategic advice.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and thought leadership within the team.
  • Effectively manage all client work allocated to them, ensuring that it is progressed in a timely fashion and that the client is kept apprised on progress and costs.
  • Exercise high standards of client care in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to respond promptly to clients (both internal and external), including out of standard office hours where needed.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills to meet the demands of clients, external stakeholders and the business.
  • Supervise and assist in the professional development of more junior team me
