About the role

You will serve as a GG-2210-07 or GG-2210-09 IT Specialist (INFOSEC) at the HOPPER GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER in Suitland, MD. As a Cybersecurity Incident Response Center (CIRC) Specialist, you will perform at the entry/developmental capacity in support of cyber defense incident response. This position requires one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: GG-7 grade level: 1. Assist in performing routine operations in support of cyber defense incident response, focusing on basic detection, analysis, and data gathering under the guidance of senior personnel. 2. Participate as a team member within Defensive Cybersecurity Operations (DCO), communicating with internal staff to support the execution of established security incident management procedures. 3. Monitor web and email content filtering systems and assist in standard data loss prevention activities according to established guidelines. 4. Gather data and provide foundational analysis to support internal technical teams in the resolution of security incidents. OR Successful completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, and your education has equipped you with the competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position as described in the job opportunity announcement. OR Successful completion of 1 full year (18 hours) of graduate level education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. GG-09 grade level: 1. Perform standard operations in support of cyber defense incident response, including initial detection, analysis, and containment of security incidents using established playbooks. 2. Collaborate with Defensive Cybersecurity Operations (DCO) team members and internal stakeholders to coordinate response activities and recommend improvements to incident management processes. 3. Configure, monitor, and maintain web and email content filtering systems and execute data loss prevention policies on items of interest. 4. Analyze security incident data and draft technical reports or action plans to assist in the resolution of security incidents. OR Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR Successful completion of 2 full years (36 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology manag
