About the role

You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Production Department Safety Branch (900S.1), Production Safety Manager (O900S), Production Resources Department Analysis & Business Manager (900A), Production Resources Department Production Manager (901), Production Resources Department (900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience conducting OSH&E inspections, evaluations and surveys of all command facilities and processes. Experience completing OSH&E investigations, and determining casual factors, and determining abatement/corrective actions. Experience providing appropriate Safety and Occupational Health Training in wide variety of NAVOSH programs. Experience conducting independent safety and occupational health research of pertinent OSHA, NAVOSH and technical literature to maintain compliance in areas such as processes, equipment, materials, facilities, personnel protective equipment, control devices and measures, products and services to others. Experience preparing final reports or findings with recommendations to correct the unsafe or unhealthful conditions within time constraints as required by OSH&E laws and regulations. Experience assessing safety incidents and assessing the need to stop work when there is reasonable certainty that an occupational fatality, injury, illness, exposure, unsafe act or unsafe condition has occurred. Experience conducting safety education including detection and prevention of hazards. Experience organizing scheduled inspections and surveillance to ensure program compliance.
