About the role
This position is in the Security and Emergency Management Division (SEMD), Security Services Branch. The SEMD provides daily security support in a wide range of security functional areas that include information security, physical security, industrial security, operations security, and general security administration. The incumbent serves as a Security Specialist for the Security Services Center (SSC), responsible for participating in the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the SSC. To be creditable, you must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 in the Federal service: For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-07. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience participating in daily operations of a Security Operations Branch or Security Service Center; Experience participating in management of background investigation process for federal and contract employees; AND Experience supporting, organizing and conducting analysis involving HSP-12 and Physical Access Control System initiatives. Or Master's or equivalent graduate degree (if related); Or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree (if related); Or LL.B, LL.M., or J.D., Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
