POSITION SUMMARY Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Director Electrical Engineering to lead and mature a centralized Center of Excellence that supports Axiom's complex human‑spaceflight programs. The Director of Electrical Engineering establishes unified standards, processes, and best practices that elevate technical rigor, strengthen cross‑program collaboration, and ensure consistent delivery of high‑quality, human‑rated electrical and avionics systems. They lead multidisciplinary teams across the full engineering lifecycle while ensuring strict compliance with NASA standards, human‑rated requirements, and mission assurance expectations. The role is accountable for scaling electrical engineering capabilities across multiple spacecraft and space‑infrastructure programs, optimizing resources, and driving organizational knowledge sharing. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in spacecraft electrical systems, power systems, avionics, communication architectures, and safety‑critical electronics, and partners closely with NASA, commercial customers, and industry stakeholders to deliver mission‑critical solutions. This position blends strategic leadership with hands‑on technical insight to advance a world‑class electrical engineering organization capable of supporting a complex, multi‑mission portfolio. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and develop the Electrical Engineering organization, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance. Build and mentor a strong leadership bench, ensuring effective coaching, career development, and succession planning. Set the strategic vision for the Electrical Engineering Center of Excellence aligned with company and program objectives. Establish and enforce unified engineering standards, processes, and best practices across all electrical engineering teams. Champion engineering governance, design assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure all electrical systems and flight hardware comply with industries standards, program requirements, and mission assurance expectations. Oversee the full electrical engineering lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, design, analysis, integration, verification, validation, and certification. Provide technical oversight and decision authority for complex electrical designs, avionics architectures, power systems, communications, and integrated spacecraft electronics. Drive cross‑program coordination to optimize resources, scalability, and organizational efficiency. Support program leadership in risk management, design reviews, anomaly resolution, and mission readiness milestones. Collaborate with NASA centers, commercial clients, industry partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver mission‑critical electrical and avionics solutions. Communicate engineering progress, technical status, risks, and issues to leadership and key stakeholders. Identify emerging technologies, capability gaps, and strategic investments to advance long‑term technical excellence. Promote adoption of advanced tools, digital engineering methods, and model‑based approaches to enhance engineering efficiency and product quality. Perform additional duties assigned to support organizational and programmatic needs.
