JOB SUMMARY: Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC), in association with the UNC Adams School of Dentistry, seeks a full-time faculty member for its division of Dentistry GPR program and Adams School of Dentistry AROW Scholars Programs in Asheville, NC. Dental Faculty will join our innovative, growing team to provide excellent, evidence-based, efficient interprofessional patient care services, resident and student teaching, mentoring, curriculum planning and effective supervision. You will work in state-of-the-art clinics with collaborative and engaged colleagues across the healthcare spectrum. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Works together with dental residents and dental students in the Dental Health Centers and other MAHEC dentistry locations, including hospitals; surgery centers, and elementary schools as needed. Provides clinical instruction, teaching and oversight of resident and student care of patients; Evaluation of patients with resident dentists and student dentists as required and in compliance with resident training CODA standards (Commission on Dental Accreditation) and payor contracts, and MAHEC academic policies and goals. Reviews and signs off on resident and student clinical notes and completes all relevant documentation as needed and within required time frames for both precepting/attending and individual patient panel. Consults with hygienists, dental assistants, and business office staff; Completes worklists and documentation tasks falling to regular Faculty Dentists in accordance with MAHEC policies. Assists in treatment planning and procedures as part of precepting/attending responsibilities Serves in the dental faculty practice, seeing own patient panel as required by contract with MAHEC Serves as second emergency department hospital call at Mission Hospital in Asheville and provides regular cadenced dental care in the operating room setting; This role description is a general description of the essential job functions. This also includes keeping up with your licensure and yearly training requirements within your area expertise along with MAHEC's organizational training. Finally, the ability to apply the depth of knowledge maintained and gained through this process in real life scenarios as appropriate.
