Job Title Staff Editor, EW Job Description I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives. EW Staff Editors are responsible for coordinating breaking news content and other features. A successful Staff Editor will be a team player who has excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, as well as a deep love and knowledge of entertainment and pop culture. This role will play a key part in supporting Entertainment Weekly's East Coast news operation, helping the team stay competitive in the fast-moving daily news cycle by identifying breaking stories, guiding coverage decisions and ensuring timely, high-quality execution. In addition to covering news of the day, they will work closely with the rest of the team, suggesting story ideas, and pitching unique ways to advance a story. Successful candidates will be able to guide writers as they produce well-reported and engaging content under tight deadlines. They will collaborate with Senior Editors on coverage plans, negotiating exclusives, and cultivating relationships with publicists and other pertinent external collaborators and sources. The Staff Editor must also be willing to work occasional off-hours and weekends as necessary. II.
