Additional Information

Under general supervision of designated supervisor, install, maintain, and repair building system equipment components including but not limited to; motors, pumps, bearings, fan coils, exhaust systems, filters, emergency lighting, dining specific equipment, grease traps, etc. Responsible for providing excellent customer service and producing the highest quality of building equipment maintenance work. Senior Facilities Mechanics are expected to act as department leaders and will mentor Finish/Mechanical Technicians as assigned. Provide expertise in building equipment maintenance problem solving (including use and knowledge of the UNH continuum) in addition to providing the services, knowledge, and responsibilities exclusive to the broad area of building mechanical equipment maintenance. NOTE: This position has a four (4)- day-per-week work schedule, Monday through Thursday, with 10-hour shifts. UNH Facilities is a 24/7/365 operation and has responsibilities related to campus safety and emergency response. Due to the nature of our business, employees may be asked to flex schedules and/or respond to requests outside of normal working hours in order to meet the demands of the university. This may include early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work as needed. Job Duties: Service Calls and Customer Service Respond to service calls and requests related to the operation, repair, maintenance and installation and removal of various building mechanical equipment. Ensure work is of the highest quality while meeting all building codes and safety requirements. Troubleshoot minor and complex mechanical issues and provide expert knowledge on solutions. Utilize the UNH energy management software to diagnose heating/ventilating problems and use work management software to maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used and time expended. May participate in the on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations, including during off hours, as needed. Preventative Maintenance and Project Work Perform preventive maintenance and repair/replacement work on building equipment and systems. Update and maintain records in the work management software and provide equipment condition assessments. Participate in project management meetings regarding equipment replacement, renovations, and new building plans. When needed, develop the scope of work for outside mechanical contractors and oversee the completion of that work Leadership and Mentorship Participate Support and demonstrate Facilities Forward concepts which contribute to a positive work culture. Demonstrate leadership qualities during work activities. Mentor, develop and train Finish/Mechanical technicians and new employees. Oversee and provide feedback about contractors working on campus in the field of building equipment as needed. Safety and Training Follow all building codes and recognized policies/procedures, techniques and safety precautions in the performance of your duties. Keep current on all required safety trainings, code updates and any additional certifications required. Seek out professional development opportunities that will benefit the University and your technical skills to stay current and knowledgeable of best practices and future trends and technologies.
