Responsibilities

  • Supervision & Leadership
  • Supervise a team of electricians, technicians, and contractors carrying out installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning works.

  • Compliance, Safety & Quality
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with:
  • o BS7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
  • o Water Industry Mechanical & Electrical Specifications (WIMES)
  • o Health & Safety at Work Act
  • o Control of Electrical Energy (LOTO procedures)
  • o DSEAR/ATEX where applicable
  • Conduct risk assessments, method statements, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation including test certificates and commissioning records.
  • Fault Diagnosis & Technical Problem-Solving
  • Provide technical expertise in diagnosing electrical, control, and automation faults.
  • Escalate complex issues and work with engineering teams, SCADA/ICA engineers, and OEMs to resolve problems.
  • Perform root cause analysis following equipment failures.
  • Construction & Project Support
  • Supervise electrical works on capital and refurbishment projects.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with specifications, safety standards, permits-to-work, and site rules.
  • Assist with design reviews, installation checks, commissioning, and handover documentation.
  • Asset & Documentation Management
  • Ensure electrical drawings, schematics, and asset information are kept up to date.
  • Record maintenance activities in the company's asset management system (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
  • Provide input for asset condition assessments and lifecycle planning.
  • Required Qualifications & Certifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
  • City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent
  • CSCS/ECS card
  • SSSTS card
  • Jib Gold card
  • Water Hygiene / EUSR National Water Hygiene "Blue Card" (or ability to obtain)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience & Technical Skills
  • Proven experience supervising electrical works in the water or utilities industry.
  • Strong knowledge of water treatment assets: pumps, MCCs, chemical dosing equipment, blowers, screens, UV/ozone systems, etc.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, PLCs, instrumentation, and control systems (ICA).
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and interpret technical documentation.
  • Experience managing contractors and ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations.
