Description of Work Reporting to the Administrative Officer II, this position will function in the centralized mail processing center of a male minimum custody facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Sorting, inspecting, and distributing offender mail. - Processing and handling legal mail and incoming/outgoing mail and packages. - Fulfilling distribution needs for both the facility and offenders, ensuring all policy and procedures are applied for the safety and security of the public and staff. - Lifting, pulling, and pushing more than 10 pounds to move large bins of mail and/or packages. - Responding to offender inquiries concerning mail. - Utilizing Offender Banking System to enter funds received for offenders. - Working knowledge of office practices and procedures. - Functioning independently and possessing good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. - Operating a computer using various software. About the Division of Institutions : The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel. About Brown Creek Correctional Institution : Brown Creek Correctional Institution is located in Polkton, North Carolina and houses up to 916 male offenders in a minimum custody facility.
