Position Details Seasonal / Temporary Outage Assignment Location: Oconee Nuclear Station - Oconee, South Carolina Area Assignment: Fall Refueling Outage Anticipated schedule includes extended work hours, overtime, weekends, and holiday coverage as required Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear access authorization and satisfy all site access requirements Travel & Per Diem Options: Full Per Diem: $200/day. Technician is responsible for lodging, transportation, meals, and incidental expenses. Expense Reimbursement Option: $68/day per diem plus company-paid/reimbursed lodging, rental car, and approved travel expenses.
Responsibilities
- Perform bolting, torquing, and tensioning of flanges, valves, pumps, heat exchangers, pressure boundary components, and other plant equipment
- Install, remove, inspect, and maintain bolted connections in accordance with engineering specifications and approved procedures
- Operate hydraulic torque wrenches, hydraulic tensioners, and precision measurement equipment
- Verify proper bolt materials, lubricants, gasket selection, torque values, and installation methods prior to assembly
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, maintenance procedures, work packages, and technical specifications
- Perform flange management activities to ensure proper joint integrity and system reliability
- Document completed work activities in accordance with nuclear quality assurance and maintenance requirements
- Support refueling outages, maintenance projects, construction activities, and emergent repair work
- Participate in pre-job briefs, post-job reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain foreign material exclusion (FME) controls and housekeeping standards in assigned work areas
- Follow radiation protection requirements, industrial safety procedures, and plant operational standards
- Support equipment inspections and quality verification activities as required
- Maintain compliance with all site-specific nuclear procedures, regulations, and safety expectations
- Experience / Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience performing controlled bolting, torquing, tensioning, mechanical maintenance, or industrial construction activities
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, work instructions, and maintenance procedures
- Experience using hydraulic torque equipment, tensioning systems, and precision measuring instruments
- Strong understanding of procedural compliance and safety culture requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization at nuclear facilities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work
- Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated work areas, and radiologically controlled environments
- Ability to stand, climb, kneel, and work extended shifts during outages and maintenance campaigns
