Responsibilities
- Setup and support game day equipment such as: Scoring and Timing systems, Communication systems, Replay and NHL/NBA League review systems
- Deploy temporary equipment for live events such as: POV cameras, Video displays, Cable harnesses and video distribution equipment
- Maintain temporary and permanently installed LED displays and supporting software
- Respond to calls during live events to quickly and calmly troubleshoot and remedy any issues affecting the event. If the issue is beyond your capabilities, requesting support from the System Engineer as quickly as possible is the next step.
- Assist in coordinating and implementing technical requirements for events, internal presentations, promotional activations and live performances
- Follow installation/maintenance instructions from System Engineers to maintain or install permanent cabling and equipment in racks throughout the facility
- Maintain a basic working knowledge of all technology and broadcast equipment to assist in emergency operating scenarios and/or contribute meaningfully to discussions with the larger Engineering team
- Maintain a basic working knowledge of venue digital signage systems to assist in both operational and maintenance as requested
- Due to the nature of a live event environment and professional sports leagues, duties and responsibilities will change as circumstances dictate

The Engineering Technicians set-up, strike, troubleshoot and sometimes operate NHL and NBA scoring/timing systems, league technologies, live broadcast/presentation systems, corporate A/V technology and integrated IT operational endpoints. When the Fans at Scotiabank Arena attend a professional sporting event, concert or private event, they are seeing and hearing the work that you perform. The scoring and timing system that you setup and test for an NBA or NHL game is a critical piece of these professional events. The Press and Media that sit courtside for a basketball game or in the Media Gondola for a hockey game rely on your work to keep track of stats provided by the leagues. Broadcast feeds are distributed throughout Scotiabank Arena during events. Your work ensures that everyone gets the feeds they need. When something fails, you are the first line of defense to troubleshoot and rectify as quickly as possible.
