Job Description: Position Purpose summary: To support the mission of The Salvation Army Toronto Harbour Light Ministries through provision of professional concurrent disorder counselling services for youth/adult clients in accordance with government contractual agreements and Salvation Army Standards. To function responsibly as a member of Harbour Light at Choices Shelter & Support Services, Family Life Resource Centre, Cuthbert House, Wilkinson Men's Shelter, Motel 6, and St. Leonard's Place Peel. Accountabilities: Individual counselling Case Management skills Group Facilitation as needed Teaching Classes as needed Development of treatment plans based on client-centered recovery goals Assessment & referral Liaison with shelter case workers by attending case management meetings and working alongside shelter team Maintain electronic client files via EMHware according to agency standards Liaison with outside agencies as required Crisis/Conflict Intervention Discharge Planning After-care Follow-up Team Consultation and Decision-Making Reporting on monthly service targets Participation in individual and team clinical supervision Mileage reimbursement for travel Other duties as assigned Education and Experience Qualifications: Minimum undergraduate degree from a recognized institution (in one of the human services professions) Registration in a professional college an asset Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements Minimum 3 years' experience working in the substance use/concurrent disorder sector Knowledge of evidence-based concurrent disorder counselling interventions / treatment models, including CBT, Relapse Prevention and Trauma Informed Practice Cultural awareness practices Professional documentation according to agency and regulatory college standards The ability to work individually and as part of a team The ability to work collaboratively with community partners Competence with data management systems, particularly EMHware Knowledge and experience in substance abuse counselling, group counselling and case management Awareness and experience with marginalized and vulnerable populations Basic First Aid/CPR Certification an asset Proficient in English language, second language an asset Upon hiring, successful candidate must provide: A current Vulnerable Sector Screen CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Senior Management, Director of Client Services, Program Coordinator, counsellors & staff within agency, outside agencies MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY : Reports directly to: Program Coordinator WORKING CONDITIONS: Shelter and community settings, long periods of being seated, using computer, phone systems Minimum travel for counselling support for community clients
