Senior Team Leader - Laser Research & Development

Responsibilities

• Lead research and development of advanced laser system concepts for defence and space applications to deliver innovative solutions.
• Design and develop multi-kW Continuous Wave (CW) fibre lasers, amplifiers, and multi-Joule pulsed solid state lasers to meet performance targets.
• Develop multi-beam combination technologies including Coherent Beam Combination and Spectral (Wavelength) Beam Combination to enhance laser system capabilities.
• Engineer advanced laser technologies such as phase conjugate mirrors, imaging relay systems, and single frequency generation to improve system functionality.
• Design advanced optical systems including adaptive optics, telescopes, and beam management systems to optimize laser performance.
• Provide leadership and coordinate R&D team activities to ensure timely and effective project delivery.
• Train and mentor junior team members in lasers, optics, and photonics to build team expertise.
• Perform alignment, testing, operation, maintenance, and debugging of laser systems, power supplies, optical instruments, electronics, and control software to ensure system reliability.
• Prepare and maintain high-quality documentation of design and development work in compliance with quality standards and procedures.
• Required competencies and certifications
• Ph.D. in laser physics, essential for technical leadership and expertise in advanced laser system development.
