Job Summary : To develop and implement policies and procedures for the department adhering to the guidelines set forth by AAI, OSHA, and HFAP. To act as a resource person for sterilization techniques for the staff and other departmental areas within the organization. To facilitate duties performed by the Central Sterile staff through continuing education and in-services. To assign and schedule staff so they may perform and function to their fullest capabilities. D e m onstrates Ti m e and Supply Manage m ent Uses ti m e productively. Checks and orders supply and inventory as needed. Refers requests to senior buyer or director. Assists with esta b lis h ing billing charges for new instru m ents/sets. Carries out established procedu r es: cleaning, deconta m inating and sterilization. Assists new Physicians with orderin g an d obtainin g new instru m entation. 3. Support s Staffing/Schedulin g Needs Plans work assign m ents, call cove rage , an d vacatio n requests. Utilizes a u t om ated ti m e and attenda n ce system to veri f y e m ployee hours; m onitors overti m e/discrepancies. Quality 1. Interacts as a team player and participate s i n continuou s quality i m prov e m ent activities w ithin the depart m ent and organization, supporting HRH and d e part m ent QI p l an including Peer Review, data gathering, and change process. 2. Per f or m s daily qu a lity c ontrol chec k s of equipment and pr o c essed supplies to insure that work assign m ents are completed. 3. Works closely with nursing depart m en t s and Infection Control to ensure that procedures for the handling and transporting of equip m ent utilized on patie n ts a re m et. 4. Assists in the co m pletion of perfo r mance evaluations; provides feedback and counseling related to perfor m an c e/attendance; and m aintains docu m entation of disciplinary actions. 5. Makes recommendations for personn e l changes to the Director. 6. Conducts and supervised the trainin g o f ne w associates. 7. Acts as a resource person for new physicians between the Operating Room and Central Sterile. 4. Engages patient, fa m ily, and significant others through the practice of AIDE T (A c knowledge , Identify , D u ration, Explanation, Thank You) Education/Experience: Previous supervisory and sterile processing experience preferred. RN, LPN, or Certified Surgical Tech with 10 plus years of CSS experience strongly considered. License or Certificati o n: Certi f ied R e gist e red Ce n tr a l Ste r ile T echni c ian (CRCST) required.
