Manage daily operations, programs, staff, and resources for the City's drinking water sources section to meet service demands and emergency response needs. Oversee operation of drinking water source facilities and treatment processes to maintain reliable service and compliance with applicable local, State, and Federal regulations. Inspect, maintain, and plan improvements for reservoirs, springs, pump houses, chlorination systems, pressure regulator stations, meters, telemetry equipment, valves, and related infrastructure. Monitor source production, pumping, chlorination, and water quality activities. Determine which drinking water sources are placed online based on operational conditions and system needs. Coordinate water sampling, reporting, and compliance documentation with regulatory agencies and other government partners. Plan and manage chemical purchasing, storage, handling, use, and safety procedures for drinking water treatment operations. Develop and administer the section budget, oversee purchasing and expenditures, and prepare specifications for contracts, equipment, and service needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate service programs, policies, procedures, goals, records, logs, and administrative reports to improve operational effectiveness. Supervise assigned employees, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, discipline, and compliance with City personnel policies. Develop and manage safety and risk management programs for assigned staff and facilities. Resolve complex operational and personnel issues and perform related duties as required. What are the minimum requirements? High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Six (6) years of professional water operator experience, 2 years of which must have been in a program management or supervisory capacity. Additional education may be substituted for non-supervisory experience as allowed by the State of Utah for unrestricted water operator certification . A valid, lawful Commercial Driver License with Hazmat Materials Endorsement (HME). An Unrestricted Grade IV Utah Water Systems Operator. A Grade IV Utah Water Treatment Operator is preferred. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration. If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
