Responsibilities
- Oversee and support daily operations for a designated facility (Upgrader, Ethanol, and/or Refinery) to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance while meeting production targets.
- Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to support troubleshooting, optimize processes, and resolve operational challenges.
- Support capital projects from development through execution to improve facility performance and reliability
- Participate in Root cause Analysis, Unit hazard assessments, and implement changes and improvements that come from these assessments.
- Provide shutdown support, process inspections, found work, and start-up support for planned and unplanned outage.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements while promoting a strong culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and/or Refining
- Bachelors Degree in Chemical, Process, or Petroleum Engineering, or other Engineering disciplines with related experience.
- A member in good standing or eligible for registration with APEGA / APEGS.
- Experience with HYSYS or PetroSIM refining simulation software
- Knowledge of federal and Saskatchewan provincial environmental regulations consider an asset.
- We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
- As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
- For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.

Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 07/04/2026 About this opportunity: Reporting into the Manager of Unit Contact Engineering, the Unit Contact Engineer is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day operation of their unit, to ensure that all targets and specifications are met and that deviations are understood, communicated and mitigated where possible. The Unit Contact Engineer will be responsible for one or multiple units that are part the Lloydminster Upgrader, Refinery, and/or Ethanol facilities. In addition, this role supports operational initiatives, turnarounds, hazard assessments, and has the potential to lead multidisciplinary plant wide and corporate initiatives related to reliability, safety and the corporate standards and procedures of Cenovus Operational Integrity Management System (COIMS). This position is well suited for engineers with strong field experience who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex problems, and excel in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
