Responsibilities

  • Directs and controls the activities and quality of services provided.

  • Performs corporate management functions.
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention's of the Act, in a timely manner.
  • At minimum, completion of a 2 year community college program leading to a trade certification in Electrical, Millwright, Carpentry or Plumbing or recognized.
  • TSSA Class 2 Operating Engineer certification or greater is mandatory.
  • Five (5) years of experience of supervisory / managerial positions.
  • At minimum, over 4 years of practical and related experience
  • Excellent analytical , problem resolution, labor relations and collective agreements and managing a unionized workforce required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of maintaining multiple communication channels.
  • Ability to coordinate many activities concurrently.
  • Ability to handle emergency and/or crisis situations effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to use all tools/equipment common to the trades.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of department staff positions for training and demonstration purposes.
  • Canadian Healthcare Engineering Society (CHES), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA membership Institute of Facilities Management Association (IFMA) membership,; American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) membership preferred
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office with the ability to generate spreadsheets and reports as well as creating simple drawings with Microsoft Visio or equivalent. Ability to read blueprints and Technical drawings and manuals. Use of AutoCAD would be beneficial.
