About the role

Incumbent provides administrative support for the professional mandated functions, nurse recruitment and resource management activities in the nursing service. This position is a direct report to the Recruitment Nurse Manager and will be located at Oklahoma City VA Health Care System in Nursing, Operations Patient Care Services. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/02/2026. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Strong foundational knowledge of administrative and office management principles, with the ability to apply them to complex, nonroutine assignments that support leadership and program operations. Deep understanding of ADPCS duties, priorities, policies, and goals, enabling accurate preparation of board actions, RMC approvals, program education for managers, and guidance on procedures and reporting requirements. Knowledge of VA manuals, Medical Center memorandums, nursing service policies, and systems such as VISTA (Nursing Administration and Applicant Tracking), along with procedures for recruitment supplies, equipment repair, and printing requests. Familiarity with the functions and goals of the Nurse Professional and Nurse Recruitment Office, enabling effective screening of correspondence, call routing, scheduling, and meeting coordination while maintaining strict confidentiality under Privacy Act and FOIA guidelines. Knowledge of credentialing processes and personnel systems (Title 5, Title 38, Hybrid), combined with advanced computer skills across Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and HR software. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, including accurate grammar usage, ability to organize and update diverse information, and the tact, poise, and confidentiality needed to interact with managers, staff, and visitors.
