Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Prepare and submit payroll files for earnings, deductions, benefits, and other payroll-related transactions.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll processing.
  • Process payroll adjustments, corrections, and off-cycle payments as needed.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reconciliation.
  • Support legal, tax, and internal audit requests by providing required payroll documentation.
  • Research and resolve employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Analyze payroll and tax-related information to identify and correct payroll issues.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations.
  • Assist with payroll banking activities and related documentation.
  • Generate payroll reports and provide information to management as requested.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and assist with payroll-related projects.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of payroll processing experience in a multi-state environment.
  • Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms; UKG and Workday experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Understanding of wage and hour laws and payroll compliance requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience with outsourced payroll providers.
  • Knowledge of California payroll regulations and regular rate of pay calculations.
  • Experience processing payroll for union employees.
  • Canadian payroll experience is a plus.
  • Fundamental understanding of payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • The annual starting salary for this position is between $60,000 - $70,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
