Primary Function of Position: The Payroll Process & HCM System Lead acts as the strategic bridge between technical Human Capital Management (HCM) platforms and the functional operations of payroll for U.S. and Canada. This position will lead projects and process improvement initiatives as well as be the primary point of contact with HR systems and HR business teams. The Payroll Process & HCM System Lead will bring a mindset of accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement while possessing a strong financial acumen and problem-solving skill set. Role and Responsibilities: Critical individual contributor role to drive partnership with Workday HR teams and ensure no impact to payroll processes; subject matter expert of payroll systems utilized by Company. Provide operational and strategic oversight of payroll services for U.S. and Canada while ensuring an effective governance of policies and procedures. Identify improvements and best practices to drive process excellence aimed at ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions. Mitigate and investigate risk proactively; maintain effective internal controls for department and enhance controls when necessary to drive risk reduction. Assist in identifying error root causes, resolutions, and process refinements to prevent and eliminate repetitive errors. Drive efficiencies of payroll related reporting to support organizational needs; develop payroll metrics to track productivity and performance. Analyze current business operations to streamline workflows, eliminate manual data entry, and integrate payroll with broader HR functions. Acting as a subject matter expert (SME) to gather requirements from business leaders, facilitate workshops, and provide high-level reporting for decision-making. Primary liaison with Human Resources and ensure cross-functional collaboration. Attend HR all-hands as necessary to build rapport. Devise long-term strategic plan of the organization and identify capabilities and investments in systems to achieve plan. Other projects and process improvements as identified. Required Skills and Experience: 5 to 10 years of payroll experience in a large dynamic company setting. Strong technical skills; experience managing systems and data flows. Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas (e.g., INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, nested logic), PivotTables, Power Query, data modeling, and large dataset management; ability to build scalable, audit-ready tools and automate processes. Forward-thinking leader with strong executive communication skills. Demonstrated effectiveness in taking short- and long-range approach in achieving results. This role requires working onsite in our Peachtree Corners, GA office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week. Occasional travel to our Sunnyvale, CA headquarters may be necessary to drive cross-functional efforts and build a rapport across various stakeholders. Required Education and Training: Bachelor's degree preferred, or 6 years of equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant payroll leadership experience. CPP or FPC certification preferred.
