Department Museum of Art Job Description Job Summary As a member of the Collections Management team at the Smith College Museum of Art, the Exhibitions and Loans Specialist will provide day-to-day oversight of the museum's exhibition program as well as incoming and outgoing artwork loans. This position plays a critical role in coordinating amongst museum departments to ensure that gallery rotations and exhibitions operate smoothly and efficiently. Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. *This is an in-person role. Essential Functions Manage all phases of planning and execution for both in-house and loan exhibitions and rotations in partnership with staff and guest curators, including overall scheduling, initial budgeting, creating loan contracts, collaborating on exhibition layout, design, and installation. (35%) Oversee logistics and installation of gallery rotations taking into consideration; works needed for loan, rotations of light-sensitive works of art, other environmental considerations, curators' requests for changes to the permanent collection displays and college reunion accommodation. (35%) Manage loan arrangements, including but not limited to cross-departmental communication, agreements, incoming and outgoing shipping and logistics, and documentation. (10%) Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping are completed, following AAM standards, for loans and exhibitions, including but not limited to inbound and outbound paperwork, receipts, and condition reports. (10%) Assist with the creation and maintenance of physical and digital loans and exhibitions files, as well as data entry in a collection management database, in accordance with department protocol. (10%) Perform other duties as assigned by management. MINIMUM REQUIRED Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, Field: Art, Art History, or related 5 or more years experience, Area: Museum Exhibitions or Collections Management Knowledge of: Project management experience Loan management experience Experience with project management tools Experience with relational databases
