About the role
In this role, you will work in the new construction , remodeling , and repair maintenance of county parks and facilities. For more information, please see below... Complete work orders for repairs in county parks, involving carpentry, painting, concrete work, fence repairs, sign installation, pressure washing, and irrigation. Responsible for completing daily paperwork, inspection reports, and weekly timecards within established deadlines. Perform minor repairs independently. Perform carpentry, including framing walls/doorways, installing doors, windows, roofing, cabinets, and hardware. Construct picnic pavilions, pole shelters, boardwalks, pedestrian bridges, and docks. Form and pour concrete curbs, footings, and floors. Build concrete blocks and brick walls and structures. Paint, stain, varnish or apply lacquer, including assessing proper materials. Apply stucco. Install drywall, ceramic tile, vinyl, and carpet. Perform minor repairs to plumbing and fixtures. Demolition of small structures. Complete in-house mowing, operating mowers, string trimmers, and edgers. Assist horticulture crews in mulching and vegetation and debris removal. Responsible for managing materials and multiple work orders. Safely and efficiently operate and maintain county equipment. About the Schedule Work Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week . Saturday - Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Evenings, weekends, and/or holiday work may be required, based on county needs. About You
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education -and- Two (2) years of related experience, education, and training.
- -Or- Any combination of experience/education/training in construction and park maintenance.
- Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
- Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
- Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. Employees can use handling devices (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessive poundage of 50-plus pounds.
