About the role

The gardening facilitator will lead online and in person programs related to gardening for adults 55 and better. Gardening may include container gardening, supporting community gardening (with the main community garden site located in Chatham), using a grow light, and more. This is a temporary contractor position and is not eligible for Mather benefits. The gardening facilitator position is an independent contractors and paid $105 per contact hour in person, $84 per contact hour online via zoom. This rate includes all class preparation, set up and travel expenses. There are four additional hours of orientation/onboarding prior to class assignments, paid at $25 per hour.

Requirements

  • Required:
  • Proven gardening expertise; experience teaching adults.
  • Comfort with teaching groups of various sizes
  • Capacity and willingness to work with a sense of flexibility and openness, along with the ability to foster positive peer interactions among participants.
  • A strong commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of Mather.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience working with older adults; experience teaching online.
  • Knowledge of nutrition (e.g., benefits of various plants and herbs)
