About the role

Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, the Corporate Lawyer plays a pivotal role in providing a wide range of legal advice and services to internal clients across the University's Colleges and Portfolios. You will provide advice on commercial and corporate transactions, procurement related matters, administrative law, privacy, intellectual property, internal policy, corporate governance, regulatory matters, risk management, compliance, dispute resolution and litigation. The role offers variety and opportunity for continuous professional development. The role will be based at our Bedford Park campus, which offers a vibrant campus atmosphere with beautiful natural surrounds, but there is some flexibility to work from our state of the art Adelaide City Campus at the exciting Festival Plaza precinct. About You As the successful candidate, you will have an unrestricted practicing certificate with several years post admission experience in private practice or an in-house setting. You are a driven professional with extensive experience in provision of complex general commercial legal advice, Litigation and dispute resolution. You are a team player, who has a high ability to operate independently with minimal oversight. The position suits a commercial lawyer who is able to apply their broad experience to new situations in an agile environment. Some of the key capabilities of the role include: Extensive experience in provision of complex general commercial and regulatory advice Demonstrated high-level ability to provide comprehensive legal analysis and advice on complex legal concepts to non-legal clients and stakeholders. High-level legal and analytical skills and experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts. High-level ability to resolve issues independently and propose solutions by using initiative and working as part of a team. High degree of initiative and judgement in interpreting contractual documentation and legal principles and policies and procedures. About Governance, Legal and Risk Governance, Legal and Risk (GLR), forms part of the Office of the Vice Chancellor and provides governance, legal, policy, compliance, insurance and risk management support to the University and its staff. The Legal team within GLR is a medium sized, well regarded in-house legal function which supports all of the University's legal needs.
