Electrical Systems Design Engineer - Overhead Cranes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of controls engineering experience , preferably supporting overhead cranes, lifting equipment, or other heavy industrial systems.
• Hands-on experience with:
• PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)
• HMI and SCADA systems
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Motor control systems
• Ability to develop and interpret electrical schematics and control system documentation.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP , Modbus , or similar networks.
• Strong understanding of crane motion control, including hoist, trolley, and bridge functions.
• Working knowledge of CMAA , NFPA 70 (NEC) , and ASME B30 requirements.

Industrial Electrical Systems Engineer Location: Ashland, VA (Onsite) Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Job Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire Starting Pay: $39.00 per hour (higher compensation may be available based on experience) Overtime: Not available Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Systems Engineer to support the design, implementation, testing, and ongoing improvement of electrical and control systems used in overhead lifting and material handling equipment. This role is fully onsite and requires a strong background in electrical engineering, automation, controls design, and industrial equipment. The successful candidate will work on both new equipment projects and modernization efforts while ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable industry standards.
