About the role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of commercial building projects, including a new hospital extension project. This role combines mechanical design support with site coordination, quality control and project execution to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and technical development of mechanical engineering projects.
- Assist in resolving site-related technical issues and coordinate engineering activities with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.
- Apply sound engineering principles and building services codes to support project execution and compliance.
- Monitor the quality of materials, equipment and installation works performed by suppliers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractor activities to ensure installation quality and compliance with project requirements.
- Prepare, review and update shop drawings, coordination drawings and related technical documentation.
- Develop work schedules and participate in client, consultant and internal project meetings.
- Support the Project Manager in daily project coordination, including progress monitoring, quality assurance and safety compliance.
- Coordinate closely with the main contractor and project teams to minimize delays and prevent rework.
- Monitor the usage of site materials and equipment to reduce wastage and improve efficiency.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely material delivery and project progress.
- Identify and rectify non-conforming works, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Monitor site progress and maintain effective communication with project stakeholders throughout the construction process.
- Recommend improved construction methods and innovative solutions to enhance productivity and project performance.
- Perform other engineering and project-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in a mechanical or M&E contractor environment.
- Experience in mechanical building services projects, including design support and site coordination.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- ISO Internal Quality Auditor certification is an advantage.
- Building Construction Safety Supervisor (BCSS) certification is preferred.
- Good understanding of mechanical building services, construction practices and project coordination.
- Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
