Job purpose: Research Analyst I (APAC) will be responsible for the collection and classification of global security related events such as terrorism, crime, geopolitics. The analyst will conduct extensive open-source research in the field of risk and national security to gather open-source intelligence in a structured format. How you will contribute at Janes: Tracking and monitoring approved news sites and other open sources. Collaborate with subject matter experts within various teams of Janes for consistency and currency of the events captured. Conduct in-depth quality check of events gathered via automation for duplication and correct classification of various attributes including geocoding. The ideal skills and experience for this role are: Comprehensive understanding of geopolitical dynamics, particularly in the Asia-Pacific Region. Strong OSINT collection skills to identify key indicators in complex geopolitical situations. Proficiency in collecting and synthesizing data from open sources. Experience in conducting risk assessments and identifying potential risk. Excellent communication skills to effectively articulate geopolitical indicators to immediate stakeholders. Ability to execute a project within tight time constraints. Proven research abilities using open-source skills and techniques in different languages with at least 2 years of experience in the domain required. A sound understanding of terrorism, geopolitics, serious and organised crime Ability to sift through large amount of data and parse information. Proven record of undertaking project orientated work to strict deadlines. A strong data analysis-oriented mindset. Computer competency that includes a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications as well as an ability to conduct online and electronic research. English language skills are essential. Proficiency in a foreign language including Mandarin, Korean, Burmese and Japanese will be an added advantage.
