Location: Burns Harbor, IN Cleveland -Cliffs is seeking an immediate hire for a Quality Section Manager at our Burns Harbor facility. The Quality Section Manager leads safety, quality, and environmental compliance while overseeing metallurgical and laboratory operations to support steel production. This role drives product and process improvements, ensures quality system integrity, and partners across operations, engineering, and commercial teams to optimize production, meet customer requirements, and advance business performance. Summary of Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with and provide leadership for safety, quality, and environmental standards. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment, utilizing clear and effective communication skills. Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance and other technical resources to drive results. Maintain Quality System including A2LA accreditation and IATF certifications. Provide metallurgical and technical support for product and process improvement through data analysis, problem solving, expertise in area of responsibility, metallurgical and mechanical concepts, and knowledge of customer operations and markets. Support the Chemical Laboratories with specialist and technician resources, equipment and direction to provide product analysis for coke, sinter, iron, steel and finished products. Manage the review and disposition of all daily heat and slab production. Lead effort with planning and sales to improve slab velocity by identifying prime orders to which prime and distressed slab inventory can be applied. Verify slab quality through the engineers and technicians using macroetch techniques, chemical sampling and surface inspection of slab production using daily audits. Direct resources in the development and maintenance of all steel grades produced or purchased for rolling at Burns Harbor. Recommend and implement new technologies to satisfy changing customer and marketplace demands. Provide technical solutions to internal and external customers by understanding manufacturing and product capability. Other duties as assigned.
