Responsibilities

  • Maintains good housekeeping, taking care of safety and using PPE at all times.
  • All projects and assignments are reviewed by qualified certifiers for accuracy, completeness and conformance with divisional quality documents. Receives technical assistance from qualified technical staff and assigned Mentor (s), as required.
  • Maintenance/Progression through the CSA Group training system, such as, training from the Learning Institute online/Certifier University in the assigned product/standard area under the direction of the Mentor and Manager.
  • Auditing for CSA programs as required.
  • Mentors junior staff.
  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent of related experience or Engineering Technologist/Technician diploma or
  • Certified Engineering Technologist/ Technician, Licensed Trades or equivalent industry experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with background in electrical, mechanical engineering/technology or experience in certification or experience working in Hazardous area classification.
  • Knowledge of CSA, UL and IEC Standards (e.g. CEC, NEC, CSA/UL/IEC 60079 series, CSA 22.2 No 213, CSA C22.2 No 100, CSA C22.2 No 145, UL 1004, UL 1836 or other Hazardous location standards)
  • Knowledge of Laboratory instrumentation, including operating principles and calibration procedures, as well as general Laboratory procedures
  • Familiar with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills; customer service skills, strong problem-solving ability; detail oriented
  • Experience in high power/voltage and/or motors would be an asset.
