They must climb ladders and scaffolding, bend, crouch, stoop, and endure prolonged periods of standing and walking. Assignments may be in remote areas such as sub basements, machinery rooms, rooftops, roads and walkways. Incumbent works around and with hazardous mechanical and electrical equipment and electrical systems with the potential for serious injury and death. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather, wet, cramped locations. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises, toxic fumes, gases, and acids. Subject to burns from steam lines, gas burning equipment, welding torches, and molten solder. Possibility of falls exist due to the work in high places. Subject to infections from unsanitary working areas such as sewers, waste traps, and lines. Must always be aware of safety hazards and know what action should be taken to avoid them.
