About the role

We are seeking a commercially astute Senior Legal Counsel to join our Sydney team. This is a pivotal role sitting at the centre of major infrastructure investments, where you will act as a true business partner-providing strategic legal guidance that directly influences project outcomes and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on complex legal and commercial frameworks underpinning long-term PPPs, including state government-backed performance regimes.
  • Partner with financial sponsors and lenders to structure and negotiate multi-million-dollar equity and debt arrangements.
  • Lead legal input across bid and origination phases, including drafting and negotiating NDAs, exclusivity, consultancy, and partnering agreements.
  • Manage external counsel and provide guidance across full project documentation suites, including project deeds, D&C and O&M contracts, finance and equity agreements.
  • Support assets through delivery and operations, advising on refinancing, claims, disputes, and broader legal risk, while ensuring ESG and contractual compliance
  • Required Skills and Competencies
  • Experienced and technically strong, with 8-15 years PQE across project finance, PPP/concession deeds, and/or construction law.
  • Ideally you will have strong PPP experience, D&C front end and back end and project finance or equity experience.
  • Extensive legal experience working on large scale infrastructure and/or renewable energy projects (ideally a mix of front and back end).
  • Commercially astute, with a strong grasp of investor priorities, capital structures, and long-term risk allocation.
  • A confident and influential communicator, bringing a proactive, pragmatic approach with strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
