About the role
We are seeking a Medical Technologist to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex ! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Monday - Thursday 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Responsibilities
- Collecting blood samples (Venipuncture).
- Handling blood and urine samples and sample processing.
- Running calibrations, quality control samples, proficiency testing samples, and patient samples on laboratory analyzers.
- Reviewing and interpreting lab results and enter them into electronic medical record system.
- Performing scheduled analyzer maintenance.
- Training Includes:
- Candidate will be trained to perform vision testing, ECG, and taking vitals (blood pressure, pulse, O2 sat, temperature).
- Candidate will be scheduled to take a NIOSH-approved Spirometry training course to become proficient in performing spirometry (pulmonary function) testing.
- Candidate will be scheduled to take a CAOHC-approved Audiometry course to become certified in performing audiograms (hearing tests).
Requirements
- Education & Years of Experience - Associate's Degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Citizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
- Clearance - To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Certification : Licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Medical Technologist (also known as Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist).
- Must have experience collecting blood samples.
- Hands-on experience handling blood and urine samples and have experience with the sample processing.
- Experience running calibrations, quality control samples, proficiency testing samples, and patient samples on laboratory analyzers.
