- Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Expand the organization's volunteer program, including the recruitment, placement, supervision, and support of volunteers, in collaboration with the Volunteer Services Manager.
- Educate, monitor, and ensure that volunteer practice follows the organization's policies and procedures, and upholds compliance standards. Ensures compliance with regulatory and certifying bodies (Medicare and CHAPS) within team.
- Participates in building and maintaining relationships and partnerships with organizations, schools, and companies in the community to enhance the mission of LHGLI.
- For assignments, within the IDT, promote volunteer involvement, generate volunteer requests, complete required documentation, and communicate with the team the outcome of the request in verbal or written report
- Document and maintain a volunteer staff sufficient to provide administrative support and direct patient care in an amount that, at minimum, equals five percent of the total patient care hours of all paid hospice employees and contract staff if assigned to a hospice team.
- Participates in the development and implementation of programs, events, and trainings within the Volunteer Department which enhances the engagement and inspires service of the current volunteer corps.
- Maintains records of volunteers, ensuring that all file requirements are met and kept current.
- Serves as a liaison between team members and volunteers on the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
- Assigns all patient care and administrative volunteers based on the needs of the organization and abilities of the volunteers
- Supervises volunteers as assigned and receives feedback from teams for ongoing training and development.
- Performs initial and ongoing competency evaluations to verify training and support needs.
- Keeps an accurate accounting of patient care and administrative volunteer hours.
- Receive information on new admissions; Match volunteers with patient and family needs and provide them with the necessary information to support their involvement.
- Maintain regular contact with Volunteer's assigned to support their service to patients and their families
- Keep volunteers informed of any changes in the patient's condition and plan of care.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
